Military Divorce

Military Divorce Attorney in La Mesa

Serving El Cajon, Lemon Grove & the Surrounding Areas

When it comes to divorce involving a member of the military, it is advised that you seek legal counsel from an experienced La Mesa divorce attorney. I have been providing legal representation to Southern California residents for over 25 years. By combining years of experience with an extensive knowledge of divorce proceedings and family law, I am able to help you navigate through the complexities of military divorce.

Much like a conventional, civilian divorce, the process of a military divorce involves the following steps:

  • The petitioner decides on how to end the marriage (divorce, legal separation, or annulment)
  • Paperwork must be filed by the petitioner
  • The petitioner has someone serve the forms to the spouse, now called "the respondent"
  • The respondent can contest the divorce if he or she so chooses
  • If the respondent does not contest, then the courts can end the marriage
  • If the respondent contests the divorce, then other legal steps must take place
  • Additional legal steps include an exchange of financial documents for the judge's consideration

You deserve quality counsel and compassionate, personalized attention during your divorce. Call my office at (619) 304-8499 to discover how I can help you.

Serving a Spouse on Base, Overseas & Stateside

With a military divorce, the location of one or both spouses can make it difficult to approach a divorce in the first place. If the spouse lives off-base, then the process follows much the same as a civilian divorce. The individual can be served the forms by a person over the age of 18 who is not connected with the case. If the spouse lives on base, a process server or sheriff can serve the papers. In situations where the spouse is stationed overseas, the individual can be served by certified mail with return receipt.

This situation can be difficult to manage, which is why I make my legal services readily available to individuals who are seeking a divorce. As your La Mesa military divorce lawyer, I will work closely with you to make sure your needs and addressed and every detail of your divorce is handled to the letter.

Hear From Others
I Have Helped

  • I left our appointment feeling empowered and capable of negotiating the divorce and child custody process.

“She had genuine concern for me and my children at a time where it often felt like nobody was looking out for us. Andrea was also very flexible with scheduling and offered solutions on how to work with my budget.”

    Tori

  • She never gave up defending me.

“She has a vast knowledge of the court system and the law. She has worked with me diligently since January, and it is now November, to keep me out of prison due to multiple DUI’s. I would highly recommend Andrea for any legal matters.”

    Dan

  • The court sided in my favor and I owe this to Andrea.

“I needed to meet with her and she saw me within a day of calling her. She actually answered the phone and some of my questions while at Disneyland with her kids. She also prepared me for the mediation.”

    Paulina

  • I would recommend her highly.

“I am very pleased with the representation Andrea has done for me. Being very nervous and stressed with my DUI situation, Andrea has made me feel very comfortable. All of my imposed fines have been less and better than I would have ever thought.”

    Cheryl

  • I couldn’t have asked for a better attorney to help me.

“First off I have to say Andrea is amazing. I live out of state and Andrea is willing to FaceTime me and give me great legal advice. She is very thorough and just genuinely cares about me and my case and is even willing to help me while on vacation.”
