Visitation Rights

Visitation Rights

Choose a Skilled La Mesa Family Lawyer

After custody is granted, visitation is decided on by either a written agreement between both parents or by a judge when an agreement cannot be reached out of court. The judge will first order that both parents meet with a mediator in the hope that an agreement can be reached, and the goal will always be to act in the best interests of the child or children involved.

As a La Mesa family lawyer and mother of two, I am fully dedicated to maintaining the health of the family. While other family law attorneys may try to fan the flames in hope of accumulating legal fees and time spent on the case, I strive to find a solution that saves you money and unnecessary pain and stress. Ultimately, I prioritize the needs of you and your children, ensuring your relationship is protected.

Give me a call at (619) 304-8499 to find out how I can protect your right to spend time with your child or children.

Types of Visitation Orders

There are different types of visitation orders. These include:

  • Scheduled visitation: This type of visitation allows for a predictable schedule where all parties are aware of when the noncustodial parent will be visiting. This can include holidays, birthdays, and other special events.
  • Reasonable visitation: This type of visitation does not have a set schedule of visitation times, and instead is left to the discretion of both parents. Reasonable visitation primarily works when both parents are in good standing with one another.
  • Supervised visitation: This type of visitation is given when the safety and well-being of the child is in question. The custodial parent, familiar adult, or agency can provide supervision during visits.
  • No visitation: If it is determined that the child's emotional and physical health will be adversely affected by the presence of the non-custodial parent, then the parent will not be awarded any contact with the child.

As a La Mesa family law attorney, I represent parents and grandparents dealing with visitation cases in Lemon Grove, El Cajon, and the surrounding areas. Call The Law Offices of Andrea Schneider at (619) 304-8499 to see how I can help you.
